Abby's Emergency Jumper

They say that necessity is the mother of invention. As a mother, I wholeheartedly agree with that!
I've mentioned before that Abby has a complete conniption if we change her clothes in the middle of the day. We've figured out that she thinks we are taking away something that belongs to her. With quads who share everything, I can understand that she likes to hold onto what she thinks is hers.

But it does pose a bit of an issue if we are out and about and don't have a change of clothes with us.

A couple of weeks ago, we went over to my parents' house for dinner, and Abby had a blowout. Even though she is two, we still deal with those sometimes as she has bowel issues. They are rare enough that I don't think about packing an extra set of clothing anymore. Unfortunately, her blowout was a major one that required all of her clothes to end up in a tightly knotted plastic bag until we could get home and throw it in the washer.

The meltdown that ensued was massive. No amount of reasoning was working, so in a moment of desperation, I figured out a solution.

I grabbed one of my mom's t-shirts and a rubber band and made a makeshift jumper for her. I put the shirt on her, and then gathered the extra material between her legs and rubber-banded it in the back. She kind of looked like she had a tail. Ha! But it worked! The second she was redressed, the crying stopped and our happy Abby was back.
What do you think? Maybe I should start a fashion line!

  1. Great job!! Maybe she is just a hyper modest little miss. ;-) You would not believe the number of times my younger siblings have worn t-shirts of much MUCH older/larger siblings in order to cover up when appropriate clothes could not be found ;-)

  2. My kids love to sleep in their uncle's (my brother's) shirts when they visit my parents. They actually get upset if I pack pajamas!!
