Giveaway!! plus an Update

It's so hard to find that line between enough information and being sensitive.

Typically, when I put up a giveaway, I write one post to introduce it, and then one post announcing who won. However, I'm departing a bit from my typical giveaway process because of some extenuating circumstances.

If you missed it, we currently have an awesome giveaway going on for this Super Organizing Tote:
Someone is going to be very, very happy when they win this! If you haven't entered yet, make sure you jump on that right away, because it ends on Tuesday night!

Now for an update on the situation with Courtney (the giveaway sponsor) and her son. As many of you may remember from the initial post, Courtney's son (name withheld to protect him) has some severe undiagnosed diseases that he is currently fighting. Although they recently found out that Grave's Disease is one issue, there are many more symptoms requiring diagnoses that they don't have yet.

In fact, the doctors sat Courtney and her son down and finally had to tell them that it's possible that he has a condition which doesn't even have a name yet. It's that rare.

In an effort to be sensitive to the situation and the 15-year-old kid who is living through this, I haven't wanted to get too personal with the details. However, in the last few days, they finally got a referral to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital. It is the top Pediatric Research Hospital in the country! That is one more step in getting him to a place that is equipped to try to work through his symptoms and figure out what is going on!

They are anxious to get there, and I'll be blunt, funding the travel, living expenses (they will be there for awhile), and the tests and procedures that their insurance is now refusing to cover either due to it being a repeat or experimental is what is standing in the way.

Courtney has told me that her son has reached the point where his quality of life is quickly ebbing away and he is incredibly discouraged. He's a smart kid, and he knows how very serious his situation is. He is also carrying the burden of being the only man in the family and watching his mom struggle to pay his medical bills.  I wish I could give him a great big hug. 15 years old is far too young to have to deal with all of this. I am hoping that you can read between the lines about the severity and finality of his medical issues if they can't find some answers soon.

With that being said, I'm not above flat out asking for help for a family that really needs it right now! Although this giveaway didn't start out as a fundraiser (and that was NOT how Courtney wanted to do it at all. In fact, I had to convince her to let me explain her background situation.), I would like to see it become one. Several of you have already bought something, and I'd like to thank you for supporting this family! There was even one mom who offered to watch Courtney's two girls for the day so that she could get some one-on-one time with her son and make a few precious memories with him.

I've said it before, and I'll say it again, you guys are seriously the best! Thank you for supporting someone you don't even know!

Please consider purchasing something from Courtney to help with medical expenses so that she can get her son to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital. It will mean the world to her to know that she did everything she could to help him! There are items as low as $5.00 so please take a minute to browse the online catalog!

There is also this awesome October special going on right now, so make sure you take a look at that!

Again, you do not have to buy something to enter the giveaway. It's completely optional. I just wanted to make everyone aware of a situation that we can all help with! If you are unable to purchase something, I know Courtney would still appreciate your prayers!

If you are waiting until the giveaway ends before you purchase something just in case you win, you can still, of course, do it then. But don't forget that you do get 10 extra entries every day that you purchase something during the giveaway!

Thanks, Friends!

    1. Hi, Michelle! It's always a treat to get a comment from you! :)

I just texted Courtney and she is checking on the international credit card. She knows the system will take Visa, Mastercard, Discover, and American Express, but not debit cards.

Check back in a few minutes and hopefully we will have an answer for you. (She's on hold with the home office right now, so as soon as she gets through...)

Thank you so much, Michelle, for wanting to support someone in another country! You are AWESOME!!
