The Little Things Thursdays: #1

I'm starting a new segment on the blog as of today! I've realized that I keep getting caught up with the mundane, tedious, never-ending tasks of motherhood. While I love what I do and the little people that I get to spend my day with, it's easy to lose sight of the beautiful when the ruckus is taking over my life.

When I was in college, I went through a period of depression. Life was overwhelming, and I felt like I was on the losing end of everything. One day, I decided that I needed to find something funny in my day to help me get through it. Funny conversations, silly things my little brothers did, the overly nerdy chats with my English friends at school...I started writing all of those down on my first blog and suddenly each day seemed a little bit easier. I found myself looking for the next thing that made me laugh, and eventually I was able to wake up each morning looking forward to the day. (Btw, if you are wanting to see what my first ever blog looked like, you might find this LINK interesting! You will probably need to highlight the words to read them. It's a super dark layout.)

While I am nowhere near the depressed state I was in then, I do find that sometimes I forgot to stop and take note of the little things that make life beautiful. Each week, I'll be posting at least one thing that I'm thankful for...

...and I'd like to invite you to do the same! I've added a linky below. If you are a blogger, I hope you will consider posting along with me. If you are a reader, I hope you will leave a comment each week with at least one thing you have found during your week to be thankful for.

To get us started, here are a few of The Little Things that caught my fancy this week:

1. Halloween Costumes that Can be Enjoyed Months Later.
Thank goodness, because they took forever to finish! On Wednesday, Elijah wore the Robin costume, and Caleb wore the Captain America costume. :)

2. Leg Hugs
Ellie has been running up and randomly hugging my legs this week. Such a sweet little girl!

3. A Dozen Chocolate Chip Cookies from McDonalds
My parents texted me late Friday evening and asked if they could swing by with McDonald's Chocolate Chip cookies. The kids were already in bed, so Sean and I enjoyed a nice, quiet visit with them while we all sat around and had dessert.

4. New Nail Polish
A bunch of my nail polish dried out, and I had to pitch it recently. It's understandable since it was years past it's prime. I used it as an excuse to pick up some $2 bottles at Walmart. I settled on the two colors above because I like dark colors in the winter. Now I just have to decide which one to use first!

Now it's your turn! What Little Things brighten your week? Link up your post below and make sure you come back next week to play again!

The linky rules are super simple!
1. Please keep your linked post clean and respectful! Any links directing to offensive posts will be deleted.
2. Please add the button or a text link to your sidebar or post to share the fun that we are having over here!
3. Please visit at least one other blog linking up and leave some blog love. Maybe you will find someone else's "little thing" is exactly what you needed to read!

    1. Crystal, I'm so glad you linked up! And I loved the photos of your family!

This is my first time using Pure Ice nail polish...the motivating factor being price. :) I'm glad to hear that it's something you like! I was wondering if it would be any good.
