The Little Things Thursdays: #16

Welcome to The Little Things Thursday!!

If you are new to our link-up, we like to take a minute to look back on the little things that brightened our week. So often we get busy and forget all of the things that we enjoy as we go through our daily lives. This is an opportunity to stop, remember, and enjoy those things! Nothing is too small...in fact, the smaller the better! That's the whole point! If you have a blog, link-up below. If you don't blog, I'd love for you to participate by leaving a comment. Ready?

1. Krispy Kreme Doughnuts
These kids don't know how good they have it! Beth, one of the sweet ladies who comes over to help me sometimes (also known as Ellie's best friend!), brought the kids doughnuts last week. Oh. My. Word. From the official Krispy Kreme hats to the still-warm glazed doughnuts, Beth was EVERYONE'S best friend! (plus, she brought some for me too! I love doughnuts!)

2. Dual Purpose Bibs
Okay, let's just call them what they really are: Superhero Capes in disguise. With Daddy being such a huge superhero fan, is it any wonder that the kids figured out how to make their own capes at the ripe old age of two?

3. Awesome Socks
I think we can officially say that Ellie is our sock girl. I feel like every other week, I post a picture of her in yet another pair of socks. I think she might be trying to set a worldwide trend here. And yes, she did put her socks on and wear them this way all day long. Hilarious!

4. Consignment Sale Finds
Our multiples consignment sale was last weekend. I found a couple of awesome things, but I think this toy box is my favorite buy this time! I picked it up for $20, and it's in near perfect condition! Now, if only my theory that is would help contain our toy explosion was proving true...

5. Medical Friends who make House Calls
This photo was taken October 2011
Everybody needs someone in their corner that they can turn to when life gets a little unpredictable. We are so grateful for our friend, Cheryl, who was a NICU nurse for years and has become our on-call medical professional since the kids came home from the hospital. The boys fought some really high fevers over the weekend with Elijah spiking up to 105.5 degrees! That's crazy high! The boys had no other symptoms and were still getting plenty of fluids, but this mama was getting ready to take a trip to the ER anyway. Instead, Cheryl offered to pay us a house call to check on the boys (and save us some MAJOR medical bills). Their ears looked fine, their fluid intake was good, their diapers were wet enough, and there were no other symptoms. She talked us through how to medicate them with over the counter fever reducers, and within a couple of days, they kicked it.  It turns out they were just teething, and like all good preemies, went to the extreme. I'm so grateful for Cheryl talking us through everything and for Sean who held down the fort while I worked the consignment sale. We've been spending the last few days just trying to recover our energy after all of that. What can I say? There is never a dull moment when raising quadruplets!

  1. That's so nice you have a nurse friend that will make a house call :) Wow, good deal on the toy chest! I'm excited for our twins group super sale in a few months to hopefully get some great deals on girl stuff cuz I'm finally getting a baby girl after 5 boys!

  2. Oh my goodness...seriously, how in the WORLD did I miss that you have quadruplets??? That is amazing. I'm in shock over that fact that my toddler is reminding me just how busy they get at this age (I have a seven year old as well). And to quadruple that...I seriously think I could faint at the thought lol!

  3. Ellie's socks continue to crack me up! I think you should consider getting her some toe socks. That would be a new challenge for her.
I LOVE consignment sale finds, but I don't know that your toy box is quite big enough for all those toys. And oh, Cheryl sounds like an angel. Glad the babies are better!

  4. I love the toy disaster photo. Pretty much what my house looks like all the time, too.

Today has not been super productive blogging wise, don't think my post to link up will be happening... :\

  5. Gracie and Carter have both always gotten high fevers (ER trips many times). Then, my oldest son has rarely gets sicks and I think the highest fever he's had was 102. Strange how that happens to some kids and not to others. I always gets scared when we get snow storms because last year during a horrible ice/snow storm, Gracie spiked up to 105.6 in the middle of the night. Bob sat at Children's Mercy 5 hours!

    1. Yikes! Yeah, sickness is especially no fun when you know that it's next to impossible to get to the doctor. I know Bob is sick right now, and I hope he gets better quickly!
