The Little Things Thursdays: #42

Welcome to The Little Things Thursday!!

If you are new to our link-up, we like to take a minute to look back on the little things that brightened our week. So often we get busy and forget all of the things that we enjoy as we go through our daily lives. This is an opportunity to stop, remember, and enjoy those things! Nothing is too small...in fact, the smaller the better! That's the whole point! If you have a blog, link-up below. If you don't blog, I'd love for you to participate by leaving a comment. Ready?

1. Four Peas in a Pod
One of my quad mom friends posted a few weeks ago that one of those Groupon-type websites had a deal on peapod necklaces. What?! I really like stuff like that, so Sean said that I could pay the $12 to get one. It just came in mail, and I love it! Now people can look at it and be like, "Hey! You have four kids!"...you know, just in case they don't notice the toddler quadruplets racing around underfoot.

2. Shoes, shoes, shoes!
My girls love shoes. And jewelry. And purses. We are putting together a dress up trunk for them for Christmas, but I just couldn't hold back the play shoes any longer. I think I paid a whopping $0.50 per pair, but you would think I just presented the Steve Maddens. It's hilarious to watch them shuffle around the house in their plastic heels.

3. Take Sean Out to the Ballgame
I'm thrilled for Sean! His friend asked if he could take him to St. Louis to see the Cardinal's in playoffs. Of course! He's been trying to be all laid back about it, but I know he was over-the-moon excited! Even better? The Cards won! Big thanks to Charles for taking him to see his favorite team live!

4. Makeup Brushes
This is kind of fun! One of the perks of being is blogger is that sometimes brands send you stuff just because they feel like it. I can get behind that! This week, I got a box in the mail with an assortment of new makeup brushes from Real Techniques. I haven't actually used them yet, but they appear to be really good quality. And my brushes are old, so this comes at the perfect time! Although, goodness! Do people actually use eight different brushes to put on their makeup in the morning?!

5. Rustic Dinner
Our dinner last Sunday was so fun! I remember my mom setting out a meal like this a couple times while we were growing up. Everyone gets what they want, and all food groups are represented. It was a hit at our house, and I'm sure we will do it again!

6. CSA: Week 18
Week 18: This is it! The last bag of the CSA season. *sniff* I'll miss it. This week we had: 2 bread bowls, 8oz of homemade egg noodles, 2 lbs of flour, 1 jar of peach pie filling, 1 lb of stew meat, 4 sweet potatoes, 1 radish (I think), 1 parsnip (I think), 1 loaf of zucchini bread, 1 container of tomatoes, 2 onions, 1 head of butter lettuce...and a bonus: 1 pumpkin!

Now it's your turn! What Little Things brightened up your week? Link up your post below (or leave a comment if you aren't a blogger) and make sure you come back next week to play again!

  2. My sister was stillborn... every year in March I cebrate her birthday somehow. Last year, I had peapod necklaces made for my mom and me and a keychain, too. My mom's birthday is 3 days after mine so we are both April (white) and my brother was born in July. So in our peapod it was white, red, white. Then outside of the peapod there was an angel with my sister's birthstone color (blue--March). I gave my mom her necklace on my sister's birthday. :) I posted a picture if you want to see the peapods I had made:

  3. What you call a rustic dinner, we call a toddler tray, because we invented it when the kids were toddlers. We use either a jumbo-muffin tin or a veggies-and-dip divided tray, both because it lets us serve juicy things like olives or pickles. At 9-7-5, it's STILL my kids' favorite dinner -- and now they're getting big enough to fill it themselves. :)

  5. I love rustic dinners like that, it makes me feel like an olden day goat herd or Laura Ingalls Wilder or something to pack a lunch with slices of bread, cheese, a hunk of meat, and an apple. Cause you know that feeling like a goat herd is how you want to feel at work! (But seriously, I love it.)

  8. Love the peapod necklace and the idea of doing a Rustic dinner. I'll have to try that. I had a busy week last week, so when I came home on Friday to see that my boyfriend had cleaned up our apartment without me even asking, I was ecstatic. :) Love Little Things Thursday.
