The Little Things Thursdays: #57

Welcome to The Little Things Thursday!!

If you are new to our link-up, we like to take a minute to look back on the little things that brightened our week. So often we get busy and forget all of the things that we enjoy as we go through our daily lives. This is an opportunity to stop, remember, and enjoy those things! Nothing is too small...in fact, the smaller the better! That's the whole point! If you have a blog, link-up below. If you don't blog, I'd love for you to participate by leaving a comment. Ready?

1. First Carousel Ride

Clockwise from top left: Caleb, Elijah, Abby, and Ellie
We went on our first carousel ride! We were invited to our multiple friends' birthday party at the zoo, and we were happy to take the kids for a bit of fun. At the party, they got to see and touch a real bunny and turtle, and got to look at a tomato frog up close (That positively terrified Elijah! Frogs are NOT supposed to be red!). Then we headed down the way to ride the carousel and see the new penguin exhibit. The kids worked off a ton of energy, and we had a great time!

I have to give a little shout out to Becky and the other party attendees who helped us keep track of our kids. With my leg, I pretty much couldn't do a thing. Some sweet friends and family of the birthday kids stepped up to help when they saw how outnumbered my hubby was. And I found out that one or two of them read this blog and knew of us ahead of time, so...thanks, friends!

2. Powdered Sugar - Take 2
Remember the Powdered Sugar debacle from a week or two ago? Yeah, we have another installment, and this one is so much bigger and messier than the last. I thought about trying to cram it into this week's Little Things Thursday, but there is no way I can do it justice in this space. Be on the lookout for an upcoming post with photos of my children all dressed as Casper the Friendly Ghost. Not. Even. Kidding.

3. The Best Husband/Daddy in the World
Life has certainly thrown us a few curve balls in the time we've been married. Having a broken leg with toddlers on the loose would be one of those. I was propped up on the bed a couple of days ago, and snapped this photo of my amazing husband doing bath time almost entirely by himself. Sean has taken over all of my mother duties in addition to his father duties without complaint. I am so blessed to be on a team with a man who sacrifices so much for his family. I am so in love!

4. Supportive Friends and Family
Nap time at a friend's house: Ellie, Elijah, Caleb, and Abby
Where to begin thanking those who have stepped up to help us this week, and for the next couple of weeks? Meals have been brought, childcare has been offered, and friends are even running our laundry and cleaning our bathrooms for us. As a group, our family, church, multiples friends, and other friends are running our household while I concentrate on resting and healing. We are truly humbled by their kindness to us!

5. It was Only My Leg
It may sound strange, but I am SO thankful that it was my leg that broke. I still have both of my arms and wrists in working order. With how much writing I do, the deadlines I have this week, and the need to snuggle and hold my kiddos, I'm so happy that it is my leg that is the issue and not what I need to continue working and being a mom.

6. LOTS of Snuggles
Speaking of having my arms available, the kids have been giving me LOTS of extra snuggles this week! They know something is wrong, and miss having me around as much since I spend so much time in my room where they can't jump on my leg (two-year-olds do not understand "broken"). I hate being so removed, but I don't really want to damage it further and need surgery. So when I do spend time with my leg propped on the couch, I have four little snuggle bugs waiting for me. :)

Now it's your turn! What Little Things brightened up your week? Link up your post below (or leave a comment if you aren't a blogger) and make sure you come back next week to play again!

The link up rules are super simple!

  1. What a great support system you have! That's wonderful how even your friends are helping you out. Hope your leg heals quickly and you'll be back running around after your kiddos in no time!

  2. I can't wait to see the powdered sugar deal! In fact, I might show it to Brady. He loves seeing other kids be a little mischievous :) It's awesome when a hubby steps up and it really does renew your love for them. I thin kit's fabulous you have been helped so much by family and friends. I know that means you have helped others too.
