The Little Things Thursdays: #71

This post may contain affiliate links. Thank you for supporting our family and blog!

Welcome to The Little Things Thursday!!

If you are new to our link-up, we like to take a minute to look back on the little things that brightened our week. So often we get busy and forget all of the things that we enjoy as we go through our daily lives. This is an opportunity to stop, remember, and enjoy those things! Nothing is too small...in fact, the smaller the better! That's the whole point! If you have a blog, link-up below. If you don't blog, I'd love for you to participate by leaving a comment. Ready?

1. Well, At Least the Rag Was Clean...
Ellie

Aren't kids funny? We have this old washcloth that has been through the washer one too many times. It's just not even usable for wiping post-lunch faces anymore, but I hung onto it anyway, because you never know when you will need a rag that you can use and throwaway without remorse. I mean, I have kids. Poop will show up on something in the near future and need to be wiped up.

Instead, Ellie found it and decided that it was custom made for her! Her tiny little arms turned two rips into armholes, so she wore it around the house like a shirt for awhile. Uh....not quite what I had in mind when I saved it...but at least I know it was clean!

2. Grandma
Sean and Grandma

We have been spending as much time with Sean's grandma as possible over the last week. She is SUCH an incredible woman! In spite of losing her battle with leukemia, she is all smiles, still telling stories about growing up in Kansas, the adventures she went on as a military wife raising three daughters overseas, and talking about how much she is looking forward to seeing Jesus. I am just in awe of her beauty (inside and out!), wisdom, and joy! We are hoping to get back over to see her again this week to soak up some more time with her. Also, I just love the photo of Sean and his grandma that I snapped!

3. Three Generations
Bottom row of photos: Caleb, Abby, Elijah, and Ellie...each with their great-grandma!

With Grandma back home, we took the kids over to see her and Grandpa last night. I love that we live close enough for our kids to get to know their great-grandparents! It went mostly well....and then they decided that they were going to be cranky-butts. Eh, such is life with four 3-year-olds! We did manage to snap a few photos and even get a group photo with our family and Grandma and Grandpa. Three generations all in the same room! :)

4. Papa Murphy's Mom
My love of Papa Murphy's is pretty well known. My inlaws introduced me to it, and I've pretty much been in love ever since. I can feed my whole family (including dessert!) for less than $15. plus it tastes good and isn't super greasy like some pizza (you know, where you have to use your napkin to sop up some of the grease? Gross!)

So guess what?! I had a chance to apply to be a Papa Murphy's Mom...and I was accepted! They sent some goodies to welcome me: Red Peppers, Cheese Topping, Pizza Cutter, Conversation Cards, and Gift Card. Should I tell them that I would have applied anyway just so that I can make sure I never miss a deal? Yeah, I'm a total sucker for pizza. It's comfort food! Anyway, supposedly they will let us Papa Murphy's Moms know when they have deals, so watch our FaceBook page, and I'll try to post them there as I hear about them. Last week, it was a large 2-topping pizza and two sides for $12. We bought that deal twice so that we could have two meals worth...hehe! #pizzaforever

5. People VIP Box Surprise
So this just randomly showed up on my doorstep this week. Have you heard of Klout? It basically a website that measures your social media influence. You don't have to be a blogger to use it. Occasionally, they will offer something called "Klout Perks." A couple of weeks ago, they offered a perk for a three month subscription to People Magazine. Okay, cool. I'm game. And then a couple of days ago, this box full of People Magazine's Editor's Top Picks showed up! How fun is that?! Hungry Girl recipe cards, a new bracelet, a really pretty bottle of nail polish, an interesting looking comb/brush/detangler thingy that I haven't tried yet, and fun chevron print makeup bags. In my opinion, this is way better than a magazine subscription (I don't have a lot of time to read anyway)!

6. Happy Chappy
I attempted to make my own chapstick this week! I really like some of the nicer brands like EOS and Burt's Bees, but they can get expensive since I like to stash chapstick in like six places at the same time. So I finally just tried to make my own. I think it turned out pretty well! Now I just need to carry it around in my pocket and leave it in a warm car to see where the melting point is. Also...I went ahead and name it. I call it "Happy Chappy!!" since I used essential oils that are mood boosters and anti-depressants. I think it's working since I feel very happy while using it. ;)

Also, if you try to text "Happy Chappy," it will auto correct to "Happy Crappy." If you've had a good poop recently, more power to you, but if you are talking about chapstick, you might want to double check before hitting send. I'm just saying.

  4. Have you recorded Grandparent stories in a book or something? We gave out books that have short sections to be filled out by each grandparent so these reflections from their childhood could be saved. We also learned so much about our own parents and grandparents as the "questions" prompted new stories they had never told before. Such a treasure as each passes beyond our ability to hear from again on this side.
