The Little Things Thursdays: #75

This post may contain affiliate links. Thank you for supporting our family and blog!

Welcome to The Little Things Thursday!!

If you are new to our link-up, we like to take a minute to look back on the little things that brightened our week. So often we get busy and forget all of the things that we enjoy as we go through our daily lives. This is an opportunity to stop, remember, and enjoy those things! Nothing is too small...in fact, the smaller the better! That's the whole point! If you have a blog, link-up below. If you don't blog, I'd love for you to participate by leaving a comment. Ready?

1. The Essential Oils Contest
So many of you voted for us in the Essential Oils contest that I posted about last week. Thank you! I posted the following note on my personal FaceBook page, but wanted to make sure that you all saw it as well.

Hey friends! An update on the Essential Oils contest:

The other team had some ethical issues with the way they obtained votes, but they were determined to prove that they won. They contested our win, the situation with them escalated, and it was obvious that the contest wasn't going to end well with the way that they were behaving.

I chose to concede in order to diffuse the situation before it got more out of hand. I won't go into further details, but I made the right choice given the extreme situation.

I still believe that we won, and I know that everyone who helped me conducted themselves in a manner that was 100% above board and ethical. I have no regrets for how honestly we all worked to network and find votes. I really truly appreciate how much you supported us over the past two weeks. I'm disappointed that it ended this way and that we won't have that kit for our kids, but it was the best way to handle the situation. The prize wasn't worth the way that people were being treated.

I do hope that you all aren't upset that I chose to concede. It, in no way, means that I don't appreciate all you did for us. As always, you all are wonderful friends who we love having in our lives. Thanks for cheering us on!

If you've already read that, sorry for the repeat!

2. Good-bye Walls
This week starts our long awaited basement remodel. We are knocking out a wall down there to make a family/computer room and moving our washer and dryer to the garage. We really need more space, but because of the housing market, we are rather stuck at the moment. So we are making the most of the space we do have, and our changes *should* drastically increase our living space! Exciting!

3. Haircut!
Guess what I got today? A haircut! It probably sounds weird to have that make it on Little Things Thursday, but it's been over six months since I last had it done. I literally just got back from the stylist, so I don't have a photo yet, but it's amazing how much better I feel when my hair looks halfway decent!

4. The Farmer's Market - Take 2
After our rather disastrous attempt to go to the Farmer's Market two weeks ago, we decided to give it another try on Saturday. It went MUCH better! This time, we went to the River Market first thing in the morning, and invited Sean's parents to go with us. They brought cousin Marissa with them, so it was almost a family reunion out there!

The kids were delighted when Pa bought them all tickets to ride the "train." It pays bringing Grandpa along!

The very best thing for me was getting to see the giant grin on Caleb's face as he rode the train. He is so reserved, stoic, and has such major sensory issues, that smiles are rare from him. He positively beamed the entire time he was on the train. Happy Mommy heart!

Of course, we did some shopping too. We got a honey bear, some fresh peaches, a basil plant, and a gorgeous bunch of fresh flowers.
P.S. Can you find Elijah in this photo??

I also picked up two of these $1 crowns for the girls. They each picked out their own princess crown and wore them non-stop...even to church the next morning! We accidentally left them in their Sunday school class, so here's hoping they are there next week!

5. CSA: Week 4
Sean's coworker was kind enough to give us her box again this week (although we were sorry to hear that she is sick!). This week, we are munching on: 2 heads of lettuce, 2 dozen eggs, 8 oz of mozarella cheese, red potatoes, 2 honey bears, 2 half gallons of milk, 6 tomatoes, 2 cucumbers, 1 pounds of blueberries, 2 packages of alfalfa sprouts

  1. Looks like the farmer's market was a success! And if you can find a person who doesn't feel even the slightest bit rejuvenated after a hair cut I'd be shocked. Sometimes I think just having the stylist wash my hair is the best part!
