Little Things Thursdays: #77

This post may contain affiliate links. Thank you for supporting our family and blog!

Welcome to The Little Things Thursday!!

If you are new to our link-up, we like to take a minute to look back on the little things that brightened our week. So often we get busy and forget all of the things that we enjoy as we go through our daily lives. This is an opportunity to stop, remember, and enjoy those things! Nothing is too small...in fact, the smaller the better! That's the whole point! If you have a blog, link-up below. If you don't blog, I'd love for you to participate by leaving a comment. Ready?

1. Behind on Blogging
Like usual, the firework tent has come and gone, and I'm just now realizing how far behind I've fallen in my posting! I have all sorts of adventures that we've done as a family that I need to sit down and type up. I clearly need to rework my blogging calendar to fit them all in....unless you want to read about our meltdown trip to the zoo around Christmastime! :)

It's not a big deal if I don't get all of the adventures written down, but I DO want to make sure most of them are documented for the kids to look back on someday. Although, part of me wonders if they are even going to care about reading what I've written. I like to think that their spouses will one day when they are wondering why our family is so crazy. It will be like one big "ah-ha!" moment!

2. "Ungle Gosh's" High School Graduation
We are all pretty proud of Uncle Josh graduating from high school a year early! We took the kids to his graduation party last week, and Abby was absolutely convinced that it was "Ungle Gosh's birthday party!" I mean, why else would you have a cake???

Ellie, Abby, Uncle Chris, Elijah, and Caleb

We were so (so, so!!) happy that our kids cooperated during Josh's party. They even nicely sat on the floor to eat their snacks and cake. All that circle time in preschool is paying off!

3. A Sick Boy and A Sweet Story
Caleb
On Saturday, Caleb came down with a brief fever. No other symptoms and it lasted less than 24 hours. But during that time, he pretty much just wanted to lay on the couch. Ellie saw that and said, "Poor Caleb is a sick boy! I'll make him some breakfast!" She then proceeded to dig through their play food box, select some food items, cook them in a pot on her play stove, and serve them to her brother to make him feel better. You can't see it in this photo, but I could tell that she made him feel pretty special with the extra attention. And Ellie was very proud of taking care of Caleb all by herself!

4. Who Needs a Bed?
Elijah

I snapped this photo during nap time. The other three kids were wide awake, making noise, playing with toys, and pushing beds around the room, and then there was Elijah. Totally conked out in the middle of the room on top of Abby's blankets. Oblivious to the world. He didn't even wake up when I moved him back to his bed or when I moved everything else back to it's proper spots while letting the other kids know that there would be consequences if they got out of bed again. Enjoy your sleep, buddy! One day you will be a grown-up!

5. Cereal WITH Milk!
Abby, Ellie, and Elijah
We have graduated to cereal WITH milk! It's all the rage at the breakfast table right now. Instead of dry cereal and a cup of milk, we've moved on to pouring milk in their actual bowl. While Caleb isn't interested, the others find it terribly exciting to eat breakfast like Mom and Dad.

6. Corndogs and Goggles
Abby

This photo doesn't really need a caption. It's just Abby doing her thing. And yes, she wore those swimming goggles through the entire meal.

7. Potty Training
Abby and Ellie

This is a post all by itself, so I won't give away the gory details yet. But let's just say that this is going horribly. It is INSANE how long these girls can hold their liquid in! I mean, who gets up in the morning with a dry diaper, doesn't pee, drinks a whole cup of milk, sits on the potty for 1.5 hours, and then when their mom gives up, immediately pees in their pull-up??? Who does that?!?! Yeah, BOTH of my girls!

I swore I would never have naked toddlers running around my house as a potty training method. I take it all back. I think I'm going to have to go the bare rump route to get this accomplished.

  1. I can totally relate to the blogging back up. I've got a stack of drafts a mile high which I can't seem to muster the creativity to complete! My daughter is going through the same potty training thing with my grandson right now. There must be some secret toddler training facility where they teach them how to hold it no matter how long they sit on the potty and to wait for the diaper/pullup to go back on!

  2. I'm so far behind on blogging too. It will take me forever to get caught up.
Sweetest story ever that she made her brother breakfast. My daughter got hurt today and her big brother held her hand all the way to the ER. It melts my heart to see them interact like that!
I haven't started potty training my Annalee but I have a feeling it isn't going to be an easy job. Bless your heart, I can't imagine trying to train two!
