Toddlerhood In Full Swing

Last Friday, I thought I'd throw a few dishes in the dishwasher after lunch. We live in a split-level with the kitchen, dining room, and living room all on the first floor. It's a pretty typical Midwestern split-level set-up. That means, if I'm loading dishes in the kitchen, most of the living room isn't visible from where I'm standing.

While loading dishes, it suddenly got very, very quiet. At our house, that's not necessarily a good thing.

I turned off the water, dried my hands, and climbed over the gate separating the kitchen from the living room to find this:

Ellie Pulling all of the Tissue out of the Tissue Box

Caleb Chewing on the Butt Paste Tube
and
Elijah Chewing on the Tip of Abby's Nose Sucker

Abby Dancing on the Coffee Table. Literally.
(I love that the ToddlerWise book is crammed into the edge of the couch in this photo. A lot of good it's doing there, isn't it? Haha!)

Oh my word! AT THE SAME TIME! It's like they all held a meeting during their morning nap to plot this scenario out, and the second I started working on the dishes, they all ran to get in trouble! After I took a few photos, I went ahead and recorded it as well:

Toddlerhood is in full swing over at our house!

I'm not sure how I'm going to keep up with everything around the house now since apparently five minutes is too long to leave them alone.

And now I also know that I'm one of those moms that grabs a camera before grabbing my kid off of the coffee table. Some things are just too funny to skip documenting!

  1. Oh my goodness, they are adorable. Hehe, just bite the bullet and hire a housekeeper or nanny...or both :p

  6. At our house, the trio of toddlers are Delay, Distract and Destroy. I think they plan this...one or two distract while the others destroy! The house is doomed, but the kids are still a delight! Have Fun with the additional head to think this stuff up!

  7. That made me laugh! I can relate to that... There are so many things I could get done if it weren't for moments like that...when the dishes seem less important than toddlers climbing on everything in sight and there is no such thing as toddler proof!

  8. All I can say is good luck! I'm pulling my hair out with two toddlers! They are awfully cute though, even when they're mischievous!
