The Little Things Thursdays: #14

Welcome to The Little Things Thursday!!

If you are new to our link-up, we like to take a minute to look back on the little things that brightened our week. So often we get busy and forget all of the things that we enjoy as we go through our daily lives. This is an opportunity to stop, remember, and enjoy those things! Nothing is too small...in fact, the smaller the better! That's the whole point! If you have a blog, link-up below. If you don't blog, I'd love for you to participate by leaving a comment. Ready?

1. Blizzard Date
There should be a picture here, but it just didn't happen. Dairy Queen has a buy a Blizzard, get a second for $0.99 deal going on right now. Sean brought home my favorite Blizzard as a surprise this week: Mint Oreo! So yummy! He got home before the kids got up from their afternoon nap, so we had a quick Blizzard date on the couch before jumping into our evening routine. So like I said, there should be a picture here but...I scarfed that Blizzard down the second it walked in the door. :)

2. Hanging with the Family

Sometimes just hanging with the family is the best way to spend an evening!

3. Chocolate Dipped Coconut Macaroons
My mother-in-law (and it turns out that my dad does too!) loves coconut macaroons. I found a pretty good recipe this week, made some tweaks, and I'm really happy with how they turned out! I'm hoping to surprise her! The chocolate? Just a little extra touch!

4. Tortilleria San Antonio
My parents and siblings have been talking this little hole-in-the-wall Mexican tortilleria up for over a year. I've wanted to try it, but just don't get out too much. Today my dad picked me up for lunch while my mom stayed with the kids and drove me downtown to try it. We got there, and I realized that it was actually a grocery store/butcher shop with a little food counter in it. But you know what told me this place was the real deal? Everyone working there spoke Spanish, and everyone eating there spoke Spanish. That's how you know you are about to get awesome Mexican food. And let me tell you....Oh. My. Word. I now want to move next door so that I can have access to this food all of the time. I brought back a Mexican Coke for Sean and a bunch of fresh tortillas (they were still warm!) to have on hand. The kids devoured the samples I passed out!

Hmm...three out of four of my Little Things involve food...I wonder what that says about me? :)

  3. OMG how I love a Blizzard from DQ! They are the only ones that can do the candy/ soft serve ice cream just right. When I was pregnant with the quads I kept getting them on my way home from work, at least until bed rest!

    1. I wish I had thought about eating Blizzards while pregnant! I bounced back and forth between craving blueberries and french fries....mostly the french fries. Lol!

      What is your favorite Blizzard?

  4. That Mexican place sounds yummy, but when I googled it, I couldn't find it. Would it be "Tortilleria San Antonio" by chance? On Kansas Ave? Thanks for the heads up! :)

    1. You should! It's a lot of fun! At the end of the year, I can probably put together just the the Little Things posts and have a pretty good journal for the year!

  6. LOVE real Mexican Food!! Would like to know where this place is too. We went to a great "real" Mexican restaurant on 7th St. over on the Kansas side - El Camino Real. That place was the same way - ALL Mexican. (it was great!) And, BTW-I love the fact that 3 of your posts were about food. ;) --Andrea from Blue Ridge
