Easter 2013, Part 1: First Easter Egg Hunt!

I tried to figure out how to get all of our Easter photos into one post, but it was picture overload! So I'm going to break them up into two posts.

On Saturday, we had our first Easter Dinner with Sean's side of the family. Pa and Ma (Sean's parents) filled 107 eggs with candy and hid them around the yard for the kids to find. It was so much fun to see the kids participate in their first Easter Egg Hunt! And true to form, their personalities shined through with how quickly they got to the task at hand.

Abby got right down to business. It didn't take long for her to catch on because she loves picking up small objects and carrying them around with her. This was right up her alley.

Ellie also caught on quickly. She was a woman on a mission!

The boys on the other hand? Heh. Something was definitely lost in translation. Elijah thought the goal was to find the eggs. Just find them. The whole, "put them in the basket" step went right over his head. He would find an egg, then start running for the next one while throwing the first egg behind him. LOL!

Caleb really wasn't that interested in the eggs. He found a few when Ma was helping him hunt, but as soon as he got away, he pretty much just ran wild around the backyard.

And meanwhile, Abby was still diligently hunting eggs. Do you see the red egg in her right hand in the photo below? That was the first egg she found. The entire time she was hunting and dumping eggs into her basket, she refused to let go of the red one.

It was also Cousin Toby's first Easter Egg Hunt! He just hung out with his mama, Ruby, though. Maybe next year he will go for his share of eggs.

Elijah: "I'm a hunter-gatherer...minus the gatherer!"

Cousin Marissa hunting her eggs.

Running off Easter dinner (Mommy and Daddy were exhausted after chasing them!)

The girls looking over their spoils.

And then Elijah found something even neater than eggs....two old, empty, crushed water bottles! YEAH! He carried those over to his basket but went ahead and threw them back down before putting them in. He was definitely consistent in not collecting anything.

Ellie: "So...can I keep all of these?"

Caleb: "Mom! There's CANDY in these eggs!"

Easter 2013, Part 2 will be up tomorrow!

    1. I came across those baskets last year in our neighborhood Dollar General. They had only four: one in each of their colors. I think they were only $3 each to boot! I grabbed them! :)
