Everything you Need to Get Clean this Spring + a Giveaway!

Thank you for continuing to vote for A Beautiful Ruckus in the Top 25 Moms of Multiples Blogging Contest! We are currently in 5th place and every vote helps! We participated in this contest last year, and it helped to grow our blog so that we could participate in offering fun giveaways like the one below. Voting will NOT increase your chances of winning, but it does help us continue to network and spread the word about A Beautiful Ruckus. It only takes a second to vote. It's a simple click and no registering or "liking" is need. Thanks for helping us out by voting every 24 hours until May 8th!
*************************************

Last week, I saw Ellie chewing on something. When I asked her what it was, she pulled a small white cap out of her mouth. I looked around the floor for what it went to, but I couldn't find any bottles or tubes laying around.

About ten minutes later, Caleb walked up to me with something sticking out of his mouth. I immediately pulled it out, and it was the tube of Jock Itch cream that we use to help treat severe diaper rashes. Of course, he was chewing and sucking on the open end of the tube. A slightly panicked phone call to the nurse later, I learned that he probably didn't ingest much and the worst that would happen was diarrhea. Oh, and I apparently didn't need to worry about a mouth rash for a week or so. Sheesh!

I have been very careful to keep medications up in the cabinet and cleaners on the other side of the baby gate, but apparently these kids are resourceful! It makes me want to take any potentionally toxic substances that we can possibly get rid of and throw them out. Now, obviously, we can't just stop taking medications, so we need to be even more careful about keep things up high. But my cleaning supplies? I keep those under the sinks. Within reach of four highly-curious, highly-resourceful quadruplet toddlers. Granted they would have to navigate over the gates, but I don't want the first time to end badly.

Michelle, one of my sweet readers, contacted me at the beginning of the month about some all natural, non-toxic cleaning supplies that she has. If you've read my blog for any length of time, you know that I am hyper-vigilant about germs in the house. With kids who are still trying to overcome their prematurity, cleaning is super important!

So Michelle's products seemed like they might be a good way to solve my need to clean and keep toxic chemicals out of the house too. But, honestly, I was still a little skeptical. Can all natural cleaning supplies really clean as well?

This is what she sent me to try, and I put it to the test!

The laundry detergent and germ-killing wipes worked pretty well, but what I absolutely loved, was the H2 Organic Super Concentrated Soap. It's one cleaning product that can be diluted to make several different cleaning products. 1.5 teaspoons mixed with 16 oz of water makes a Degreaser. 1/4 teaspoon mixed with 16 oz of water makes an All-Purpose Cleaner. And 2 Drops mixed with 16 oz of water makes a Window Cleaner. One cleaning product, and a few spray bottles and I have a whole range of non-toxic cleaning products. Talk about streamlining my life!

But, ever the skeptic, I couldn't believe that one cleaning product would really work all that well. I mean, c'mon. I've seen the cleaning supply aisle at the store and puzzled over what to buy many a time. So I went around spraying my house:

The All-Purpose Solution took care of smudges on my garage door.

The Window Cleaner didn't leave a streak. I'm a hard core Windex fan as I've had bad luck with the cheaper window cleaners out there. I now feel like I should put a sign up on the front glass door letting people know that it's there! I can see someone walking through it because they can't see the glass!

Well, all that is fine and good, but I decided to try the Degreaser solution on the worst mess in my house. I've scrubbed and scrubbed, and 409'd, and scrubbed some more in an attempt to get the ugly burned on rings off of my stove top. I finally did what any self-respecting woman would do: I gave up and pretended like they weren't there. You want to impress me, Degreaser? Then take that off. (It's true, I was talking to my cleaning supplies as we went.). I sprayed the Degreaser on, let it sit for a few minutes, and then applied a little elbow grease with a Magic Eraser. I literally couldn't believe it. Nothing else has worked!
And with that, I was completely sold on the H2 Organic Super Concentrate! It's actually cheaper per bottle than the best sale price in the store; plus, it's non-toxic. One 16 oz bottle ($12.15) makes 48 gallons of cleaner. Done and done!

~Giveaway~

    1. For sure! My toddler drank my Basic H2 and I was sitting right there with her, I turned away for a minute. It's like they have an internal radar-you can never be too careful. If it were a chemical filled cleaner, I can't even imagine what would have happened. We didn't have to go in or anything!
