Netflix Families: Free Shows for Summertime Entertainment

Tracking PixelThis is a sponsored post written by me on behalf of Netflix.

Seriously, how did parents ever survive before technology came along?

We've passed through the frigid, blizzard days of winter and are now creeping up on the heat advisory days of summer. As much as I love to get my kids out of the house, I generally abide by two rules:

  1. Wherever we are going has to have four walls and a door that closes OR a fence. Keeping track of quadruplets is no easy feat!
  2. There can't be a risk of heat stroke. I'm trying to break out of our yearly streak of visiting the ER.

With those two rules in place, sometimes during the summer, we just stay home. Inside. Where the air conditioning masks the 100+ degree weather. And sometimes, I just need to get some things done around the house.
I know I've talked about how much we love Netflix, but they just keep improving what they offer. They have a brand new site on Netflix just for families. The family site has specially curated lists like, "Classics to Share with Your Kids," and "Family Movie Night." We tend to frequent the "Get Ready for Preschool Section" during the day with titles like LeapFrog, Justin Time, Sesame Street, and Handy Manny. Once the kids go to bed, Sean and I like to kick back with the "Catch Up TV for Busy Parents" list and watch shows like The Walking Dead, Arrested Development, and Parenthood.

I really appreciate that Netflix Families provides me a few quiet moments to catch up on housework during the day, cuddle time with the family in the evening, and a bit of relaxing at night. And I'll let you in on a little secret: we also use it to keep the boys still while I'm cutting their hair!

Ready for the best part?? The Netflix Families section is actually now available for FREE! If you have a Netflix enabled device (smartphone, Wii, XBox, tablet, laptop, desktop computer, etc), you can stream these shows without even having to pay the $8 fee. We pay the $8, though, because it means we don't have to sit through any commercials.

Instead of taking our quadruplets to the movies, which would be chaotic and expensive, we just stay home and watch shows together on the couch. We save a ton of money, don't have to go out in the heat, and can watch shows whenever we want. As a mom of toddlers, I feel like they've built Netflix Families just for me!

Netflix.com/Families is a new destination designed to meet your family’s summertime entertainment needs. On Netflix.com/Families, parents can find lists of movies and TV shows for all kinds of special summer moments.

Visit www.Netflix.com/Families for more information on the best ways to stream as well as videos from families using Netflix.

  1. I LOVE Netflix and have had them for years, even stayed when they did the price increase. I just love the flexibility. I have them on my iPad and since all I need to do is log into my account I have TV anytime I want it. :)

  2. I'll have to investigate that Families deal! I still haven't tried Netflix but am inching closer. With our satellite bill and my husband's love of sports, we just haven't justified the $8/mo Netflix bill yet. Yet!

  3. Such a great idea to use that for hair cutting! Thanks for the tip! It sure beats chasing the little one around with a sharp pair of scissors!

    1. No kidding! I've never cut my kids with the hair shears, but I have nicked myself a couple of times trying to cut their hair. Netflix is a HUGE help in getting them to sit still!
