{Comments for a Cause} Compassion International - August 2013

I've been waiting all month for September 1st. And here it is! Yay!

The excitement of starting our Comments for a Cause program over here on A Beautiful Ruckus is still going strong. Sean and I are excited to introduce you to some of our favorite organizations, and of course, learn about some new ones too!

With that being said, it's time to announce September's cause:

Compassion International is an organization that is very close to our hearts. They work to connect sponsors with children in poverty, providing kids with food, clean water, an education, healthcare, and the opportunity to hear about Jesus. Compassion is a well-known organization that has been around since 1952, and through their advocacy, they have found sponsors for more than one million underprivileged children who just need a chance at life. It's incredible what they are able to do for these kids for about $1 a day!

Our Comments for a Cause program starts at just the right time because I found out this last week, that September is Compassion month! I love it when God does things like this! Compassion is hoping to find sponsors for 3,160 children by the end of the month. That is a huge goal, but I was thrilled to be accepted as a Compassion Blogger when I applied this week. I love this organization and hope you will take a moment to look at their website and see who we are loving on this month!

As a reminder, for every comment that you leave on blog posts during September (with the exception of giveaway posts), we will donate $0.10 to Compassion International!

We've decided to add an extra goal too. We'd like to see five of our readers step up and sponsor a child themselves. Think about it, pray about, look at the website and see if a little girl or boy catches your eye, or maybe if a child has the same birth date as your child. During the month, we are looking forward to introducing you to the two children that we have been sponsoring through Compassion for several years, and hope that it inspires you to do the same!

Meanwhile, don't forget to comment away!!

(P.S. Beth Ann over at It's Just Life is collecting comments for Samaritan's Purse this month! A comment on her blog means $0.50 toward water and well work in the Sudan!)

  3. I am so excited that you started Comments for a Cause and you have a nifty button to announce it!! How cool is that??? :-) Chris and I have sponsored a Compassion Child for about 5 years in Zambia named Martin---it is amazing what can be done with the money that is sent to them. We send extra now and then and one time we got a picture back of everything they were able to buy with $100 and it was amazing---even included a mattress!!! Anyway---congrats on the great start to Comments for a Cause! I am excited and will go back in to my post and put a link in to your blog!!!

  4. I have sponsored children through Children International but don't think they teach about Jesus. This sounds like a great organization! I am linking to your blog so I can comment regularly and to let others know that you are a "comment for a cause" blog.

  6. The band my son is in, Jordan Howerton Band, is sponsored by Compassion International and just got back from El Salvador where Compassion sent them and Sanctus Real and Four King and Country to meet these wonderful children. He said it was an amazing trip and these children are so thankful for the sponsors. Thanks for highlighting this wonderful organization.

  7. I think this is the same organization that has been tugging at my 14 year old daughter's heart. She heard about it on KLOVE Christian radio. She was devastated when her class at school couldn't support a child for a group project.

  10. I love Compassion International! I have sponsored three different children in Kenya over the last 20 years. It is awesome knowing that these kids are receiving basic necessities and learning about Jesus! I love getting letters from the kids and getting to send them mail and birthday & Christmas gifts. Thanks for picking a great organization!
