The Little Things Thursdays: #44

Welcome to The Little Things Thursday!!

If you are new to our link-up, we like to take a minute to look back on the little things that brightened our week. So often we get busy and forget all of the things that we enjoy as we go through our daily lives. This is an opportunity to stop, remember, and enjoy those things! Nothing is too small...in fact, the smaller the better! That's the whole point! If you have a blog, link-up below. If you don't blog, I'd love for you to participate by leaving a comment. Ready?

1. They Are All Sitting!
There was a period of time when trying to get my kids to color was highly stressful. Mostly because they would eat the crayons and insist on holding all of the crayons at the same time. Now, we've managed to establish the rules: Sit at the table, two crayons at a time (one per hand), and crayons aren't food. Well, we sometimes have to review that "no eating them" rule, but for the most part, we've got it. Now, I love watching them quietly coloring away at their little table. It's such a simple activity, but one they enjoy so much!

2. Crockpot
I love my crockpot! These things are really ingenious inventions! I love knowing that dinner is fixed and cooking away on the counter. It streamlines my whole day.

3. Tutu Skirt Day
When Cousin Aly came over to play today, she arrived with her tutu skirt. Her mom said that she really wanted to wear it, so I let my girls wear their tutu skirts too. So fun! They twirled all around the living room like little ballerinas!

4. Rodan + Fields
I was delighted to win a giveaway offered by a local twin mom this week! I've been wanting to try their products for awhile, and I actually won the whole Reverse Regimen. Yeehaw! Thanks to Lauren for offering the giveaway in our multiples group!

5. God Cares About YOU!

This Mommy's heart is so encouraged! Our kids (all four of them!) can recite their first Bible verse! Want to know where they learned it? Preschool Church Sunday School! They are actually learning and picking things up...more than I hoped! All of the kids can say it, but I recorded this video a couple of weeks ago when Ellie was the only one reciting it. Just imagine four little voices all saying it together. Yay! Praise, God!

6. The Next Step
Occasionally, I write articles for KC Parent Magazine and KC Baby Magazine. About a month ago, they reached out to me and asked if I would consider being a contributing writer for their KC Mom Blog. How awesome is that? I'm really humbled that they'd invite little ol' me to be a contributor on that level. If you can't get enough here on A Beautiful Ruckus, you can also catch me 2-4 times per month on the KC Parent Website. Some articles will be syndicated and others will be written just for them. While you are there, make sure you check out some of the other awesome Kansas City mom writers!

Also, I owe each of you a world of thanks! Because you read, comment, and generally just hang out with me in the blogsphere, I've been given this opportunity to continue growing my writing skills. Thanks for believing in me and loving my family!

  1. I have that same crock pot in red and I love it! Thinking of using it tomorrow morning to make some soup. :)

On my "little thing" list this week: (1) NCIS Season 10! - Finally getting a chance to catch up on last season with the hubby after getting a good deal on the DVDs on ebay. :) (2) Healthy kids! The boys are back in school this week after missing last week. So glad they're feeling better! (3) Christmas music - I know it's way too early for it, but my friend just released an amazing Christmas CD that I am loving! (4) Christmas cookies - My sister visited from New York last week and whipped up a double batch of oatmeal cookies and a batch of snickerdoodles...we are spoiled! (5) Fall activities - I love how much there is to do in the fall, from pumpkin patches to "Boo at the Zoo" to "trunk or treats" :)
