The Little Things Thursdays: #45

Welcome to The Little Things Thursday!!

If you are new to our link-up, we like to take a minute to look back on the little things that brightened our week. So often we get busy and forget all of the things that we enjoy as we go through our daily lives. This is an opportunity to stop, remember, and enjoy those things! Nothing is too small...in fact, the smaller the better! That's the whole point! If you have a blog, link-up below. If you don't blog, I'd love for you to participate by leaving a comment. Ready?

1. Good Night
This week has been incredibly long. Actually the last three weeks have been incredibly long. We are all still trying to get over our sicknesses, and it has wiped us out. I've been so tired this week, all I can think about is sleep. It reminds me of those first few months after the kids came home.

In this moment, the thing I'm thankful for is that the kids are currently in bed and not whining. Seriously. That's #1 on my list this week. I hope that #2 will be Sean and I getting to sleep all the way through the night tonight.

2. Flowers
I love fresh flowers, but I can't ever rationalize buying them for myself. That's why they mean so much more when I actually get to have a bouquet in the house! My mom brought these by this week. Aren't they pretty??

3. Look Out for the Giant Pumpkins!
The festivities have hit our street! Our neighbors always put up a TON of inflatables for Halloween and Christmas. If you think this is impressive, just wait until you see the Christmas display. I'll try to remember to take a photo because I'm pretty sure they could be classified as "Holiday Inflatable Collectors."

And with that, we've pretty much hit the highlights of our week. I'm sure there was more to it, but truthfully, we have been doing a lot of laying on the couch with LeapFrog movies running in the background. Sometimes, you just need to have down weeks, ya know?

  1. Your flowers are beautiful! I bet they smell good too.
The little things I'm thankful for this week, are: 1. Spontaneous Dinner dates with friends (who brought their super cute puppy)! 2. Boyfriends that help with dinner without having to be asked. 3. The phone call from my boyfriend this morning telling me that if I didn't want to scrape my windows, I should probably use my remote start. Don't know what I would do without him and all my friends! :)

  2. Hope everyone is healthy at your house very soon! It was so thoughtful of your mom to bring those flowers over, especially this week. :) I am thankful this week for surviving the chilly hour-long wait to see the penguins at the zoo! (The boys were actually quite good, thanks in part to all the snacks I brought.) Also thankful for the fun bounce house birthday party we went to (free dinner!), the home group and volleyball dinners we went to (hmm, no wonder it feels like I've hardly cooked this week), and for getting some cleaning done while the kids were at preschool. Last but not least, I'm thankful that my boys are really starting to get into playing games. We played "Hi Ho Cherry-O" a lot this week and they loved it. It reminded me of playing that game with my mom when I was little. :)

  3. This week I am so thankful to 1. my mom for her help with childcare when I was out of town last week and my spouse was on single-parent duty; 2. My dad for his willingness to let me borrow his car during the day (we work really close to each other, but he drives and I take the bus to work, so if I need to visit a client during the day he lets me borrow his car); 3. Our friends who sadly moved 90 minutes out of town but who hosted us Sunday at their new farm and we picked pumpkins, pet their alpacas, chickens, and new pony, and then they sent us home with a dozen eggs; 4. My sister's girlfriend who lent us their food processor so we could grate our tons of horseradish that was taking over our garden and instead make a tasty condiment!
