The Little Things Thursdays: #47

Welcome to The Little Things Thursday!!

If you are new to our link-up, we like to take a minute to look back on the little things that brightened our week. So often we get busy and forget all of the things that we enjoy as we go through our daily lives. This is an opportunity to stop, remember, and enjoy those things! Nothing is too small...in fact, the smaller the better! That's the whole point! If you have a blog, link-up below. If you don't blog, I'd love for you to participate by leaving a comment. Ready?

1. Around and around and around and around
I always get so excited when Caleb does something that requires energy. This week, he figured out how to play with the Sit 'n Spin...and he loves it! It is a big accomplishment for him to do something like this and enjoy doing it. Yay!

2. Princess Ezzy
Way back when we were a newly married, childless couple, we had two cats: Swiper the Fox and Princess Esmeralda Cleopatra Jenkins Ishum (Sean named her!). We picked up Swiper from the local animal shelter, and Ezzy was a stray kitten whose mom abandoned her. We loved our cats, but when we found out quads were on the way, we had to adjust our living arrangements. Swiper went to a farm and then promptly ran away while Ezzy went to live with Sean's cousin, Michelle. I had to drop something off at Michelle's house this week, and saw Ezzy for the first time in 2.5 years. Aw! She looks so good, and of course, I had to get a photo with her!

3. Stick 'em Up!
Our kids all have quirky mannerisms, but one of Abby's absolutely baffles me. She puts her arms up in the air...and then leaves them there. She doesn't even prop them up. So funny because she doesn't even notice they are up there!

4. KC Parent Magazine
Margaret Sarver, Editor - Me - Susan Gimotty, Owner
I love getting to be a contributor for KC Parent Magazine and the KC Moms Blog on their website. I get silly excited every single time I get an email asking me to write another article for them. Once a year, they have a Writer's Meeting where they invite all of their writers in for a little party. The annual meeting was this week, and as usual, it was great to meet and visit with the other moms who write from their vast array of experience. The editor and owner of the magazine were both present, so I jumped at the chance to get a photo with the ladies who have given me some really wonderful writing opportunities over the past three years.

5. Birthday
This week was my birthday, and it was wonderful! It ended up being a week-long birthday as special people in my life went out of their way to give me a break from my quad mom duties. My mom came by on my birthday and watched the kids so that I could meet Sean lunch and raid the thrift store. I found some great winter clothes, and the cashier even gave me a discount! I came back to a clean house, thanks to my hard-working mom. On Wednesday, a good friend offered to take all of our kids for the evening so that we could go out for an official birthday dinner. Kristina, her husband, and her four girls managed to keep up with our toddler quads and seemed to enjoy having them (?!). And then on Saturday, Sean's parents are taking the kids so that we can use our gift certificate to see Thor in the movie theaters. As Ellie would say, "FUN!" Plus, Sean scored one heck of a deal on the new Galaxy III Tab for me! Now I can read ebooks on something other than my laptop!

(As a side note: Sean can get people the Samsung Galaxy III tablet for $50 for the next few weeks through the Friends and Family of Sprint Employees website. If you want some for Christmas presents or whatnot, shoot me an email, and I'll send you the info needed to log in and get the discount. I'd post the info here, but that just seems weird. So email me if you want it because my hubby said that I can pass it on! $50 for a 4G Tablet is insane! Neither of us can figure out why it is so incredibly cheap because we have zero complaints with it!)

  3. Sounds like you've had a pretty good birthday week! Happy Birthday!
My little things for the week include:
-Dinner with some of my favorite girls. Sometimes it's just nice to get away from the boys and have a girls night.
-Future Family. My future mother-in-law offered to plan a graduation party for me and has taken charge of handling all the food, drinks, etc. So thankful that it's one less thing I have to plan.
-Random phone calls from my 18mo nephew. He doesn't talk much but he recognizes my voice and hearing "hi, I know" and countless giggles over and over from the little guy never gets old.
