The Little Things Thursdays: #49

Welcome to The Little Things Thursday!!

If you are new to our link-up, we like to take a minute to look back on the little things that brightened our week. So often we get busy and forget all of the things that we enjoy as we go through our daily lives. This is an opportunity to stop, remember, and enjoy those things! Nothing is too small...in fact, the smaller the better! That's the whole point! If you have a blog, link-up below. If you don't blog, I'd love for you to participate by leaving a comment. Ready?

1. "I'm Okay!"
I have to figure out how to get this on video before she outgrows this phase! Abby has taken to yelling, "I'm okay!" when she falls over...which is actually quite a bit with her balance issues. When they were just learning how to walk and fell over, I used to say, "Pop up! You're okay!" I guess she was listening. The only problem? When she gets in trouble and gets disciplined, she also yells, "I'm okay!" Not exactly what I'm going for when trying to redirect bad behavior....hmm....

2. The Aftermath of Toddler Beds
So last weekend we moved to toddler beds and survived! It was quite the feat, and I have an epic blog post planned about it. But for now, I thought I'd show you what happened during lunch the day after we moved them:

Elijah has never fallen asleep while eating. Food is way too important for that! But he absolutely could not keep his eyes open. It was adorable!

3. The Aftermath of Toddler Beds. Take 2.
I thought we had mostly adjusted to our new beds, but two days later, Caleb did this during lunch:

And then he decided that it would be more comfortable to just sleep like this:
I bet you REALLY want to read my post about transitioning to toddler beds now, huh? Well, give me a week or so. There are a lot of photos that I have to add into it!

4. Hand-Me-Downs
A good friend up in Minnesota passed some clothes on to us that are too small for her son. When she sent me a message about them last week, I had just realized that I didn't have a coat for Elijah for the winter. And what did she have in the box she was sending? A coat that fits Elijah! It's moments like that that leave me in awe of the way God always cares for our needs even when we aren't quite sure how those needs will be met. And it reminds me all over again what an amazing group of friends we have in our lives. So many of you have passed on items, given of your time, and sent encouragement our direction. We are incredibly blessed to count each of you as friends!

5. A New Choo-Choo Wagon
I got to experience Step 2's customer service first hand. Our Choo-Choo Wagon hitches started breaking, so I called them up because we must have our wagon! It's our primary mode of moving our kids in public places. I was a little worried about it because the wagon is almost two years old, but thought I'd call anyway. All I had to do was send them photos of the two hitches that were breaking, and they sent me a new wagon via FedEx. What's even better is that they didn't just send the parts to fix the hitches, or the two seats that were defective, they actually sent an entirely new wagon with all four parts that we need! My jaw dropped when I saw what they sent us. Happily, we now have a working wagon back, and I have a good customer service story that I can share with others (that doesn't happen with all companies!). I was going to put a photo of our new wagon here, but instead, I'll direct you back to this post from last year. It's exactly the same wagon, and the kiddos are so cute on one of their first wagon rides. It makes me miss those days!

Now it's your turn! What Little Things brightened up your week? Link up your post below (or leave a comment if you aren't a blogger) and make sure you come back next week to play again!

  1. LOL at your little sleep guys. When we transitioned to toddler beds, my girls just developed the habit of tearing up the room before settling down for the night.

  2. Looks like you guys have had quite the adventures. I just checked out the photos from when you got the Choo-Choo Wagon and it looked like a blast. Hopefully this new one will last you just as long if not longer!

  3. HI! I'm new to your blog! I have to say, your "I'm okay!" quote cracks me up! I have two year old twins and they use that phrase ALL THE TIME! They fall down, and shout, "I'm okay!" They get sent to time out, they yell, "I'm okay".
We also recently moved to toddler beds. Mommy is close to pulling her hair out, as I used to have two boys who went to bed without issue. Now, one of them insists that I "lay you head on my pillow" until he falls asleep. UGH! Not sure how to break this new idea.

  4. One of my boys did the "I'm okay!" thing too, but thankfully only when he fell down. ;) And I'm so impressed that you got a brand new wagon! How awesome! I love the pictures of the wagon you linked to.
