The Little Things Thursdays: #69

Welcome to The Little Things Thursday!!

If you are new to our link-up, we like to take a minute to look back on the little things that brightened our week. So often we get busy and forget all of the things that we enjoy as we go through our daily lives. This is an opportunity to stop, remember, and enjoy those things! Nothing is too small...in fact, the smaller the better! That's the whole point! If you have a blog, link-up below. If you don't blog, I'd love for you to participate by leaving a comment. Ready?

1. Because It Must be More Comfortable on the Floor?
I have surprisingly few photos from the last two weeks. I normally take quite a few to post on Little Things Thursday, but it seems I was distracted taking care of sick kids. However, I did take the above photo over the weekend! Everyone pretty much just laid around for days. The thing that makes me laugh though is that they literally just dissembled the couch cushions and moved it over a few feet to the floor. Kids are so funny!

2. Taco Bell with Ellie
I spent most of Friday going back and forth to the doctor with different kids (only because I didn't realize they were all going to need to go). Ellie was my little companion over the lunch hour, so we grabbed Taco Bell while waiting for the pharmacy to fill her perscriptions.

Me: Ellie? Do you want a chicken quesadilla?
Ellie: Yes! It's on the house!

Me: It's...what?
Ellie: It's on the house!

Me: Well, I don't know it will be "on the house" as much as it will be on Mommy's credit card, but okay. Do you want chips?
Ellie: I LOVE chips!

She was so cute and really enjoyed getting to sit in the front seat with me (we were parked!). Unfortunately, all she did was hide a chip in Daddy's door for him to find later. She wasn't up to eating at all, but the conversation was totally worth the $2.25 I spent on her meal!

3. Ellie's Homemade "Neck-a-lace"
Ellie *just* started perking back up yesterday. I have to share this photo of her with her "neck-a-lace." She made it in school, and was so proud of it! We had to take a picture to text to Daddy. I joked with Sean that I wouldn't be able to get it off of her for nap time. It ended up not being an issue as Ellie decided she didn't like what I fixed her for lunch. She ate her "neck-a-lace" instead.

4. Abby's Cookie
I love the little stories that the kids' teachers tell me when I pick them up from school. Today, Miss Sarah told me that they had cookies in Abby's class again to celebrate another birthday. Apparently, Abby's sprinkles fell off of her cookie, and it was just about the worst thing that's ever happened to her. Sarah told me that when she finally calmed down about the sprinkles, she was able to eat it....and then started crying again. Why? Because her cookie was gone! Sarah said that the joke between herself and the para is that they better stop bringing cookies to class because it's just too much for Abby to handle.

I also got a phone call from the school nurse this week. "Hi, it seems Abby got mad about something and threw herself on the floor. On her way down, she hit her head and managed a pretty nasty bump. We tried to put ice on it to keep the swelling down, but she wasn't very interested. Just wanted you to know that's why she has that bump on her head!" Yeah, I totally got a nurse's report on the injury and everything.

It's a good thing that Miss Sarah likes having Abby in her class!

5. Citrus Lane Doorstep Surprise
In the midst of so much illness, it was nice to find a box from Citrus Lane sitting on my doorstep! Back in March, I was able to grab a promotion for a free box to try them out. We ended up with The Prince's Bedtime Book with CD ($9.99 retail), Green Toys Tool Set (minus the tool box) ($27.99 retail), a free card from Treat ($3.49 retail), Mrs. Meyer's Dish Soap (sample size), and Green Eats Orange Tumblers ($6.00 retail). The box is normally $29 per month with free shipping, so even if I had paid for it, it still would have been a good deal! My favorite items were the tool set (next to impossible to break) and the orange tumblers. I'm actually planning on buying a few more sets of those. They are thick, have heavier bottoms, and look like they will be harder to knock over as we transition to open cups for the kids. I'm really delighted to have found those! I've extended my subscription for the next three months because the value seems good...and I like surprises!

Unfortunately, the free box promotion is long over, but you can use this link to get 50% off of your first box! They let you customize the age and gender of your box so that it has items appropriate for your kids.

6. Umm....
Okay, I don't normally take pictures in the bathroom, but I just couldn't walk out of there when I saw this one. I used the bathroom for the first time at my doctor's office this week, and boy...it was weird! One stall, two toilets, and two toilet paper dispensers. Although I had the privileged of using the bathroom by myself, the whole time I kept feeling like there was an expectation that two women use it at the same time. Are they trying to make women more efficient in there? It was almost like being watched and judged by the unoccupied stool...I still don't know what to do with this. I might just hold it in the future.

  3. the bathroom is cracking me up! Perhaps it looks like one is shorter then the other, so it's more for like mom and child that both really have to go? Still so odd!
