The Little Things Thursdays: #74

This post may contain affiliate links. Thank you for supporting our family and blog!

Welcome to The Little Things Thursday!!

If you are new to our link-up, we like to take a minute to look back on the little things that brightened our week. So often we get busy and forget all of the things that we enjoy as we go through our daily lives. This is an opportunity to stop, remember, and enjoy those things! Nothing is too small...in fact, the smaller the better! That's the whole point! If you have a blog, link-up below. If you don't blog, I'd love for you to participate by leaving a comment. Ready?

1. Please "LIKE" Our Family Video!
If you haven't already, please head over and "LIKE" our family video! We entered a contest to win $2000 worth of essential oils, and we are currently in 2nd place (the prize is in the photo above!!)! It ends on Saturday, so we need every vote that we can get. You don't need to give out any personal info or register to vote...it's just simply "LIKING" the video on FaceBook. Any if you want to ask your friends to help us out by voting as well....we won't stop you! Thanks! :)

2. Daddy and The Kids
Ellie, Elijah, Daddy, Caleb, and Abby

I snapped this photo this week. It's all of my most favorite people in the same frame....and only one is crying! I'd call it a success!

3. "Pincess" Dresses
Abby and Ellie

I hope Abby never figures out the correct way to say "princess." I love hearing her version of it! Ellie's preschool teacher, Miss Jessica, offered us some of their hand-me-downs when summer school started. Uh...yes please! We love hand-me-downs!

I brought home the bag, and when I opened it up, two little girls' princess nightgowns were on top. The girls LOVE LOVE LOVE their princess pjs! When they put them on for bed, they like to spin a few times like real princesses do. Lol! Abby wears the Little Mermaid one, and Ellie wears the three classic Disney princesses one. There are NO arguments when it's time to get our pjs on in the evening. Awesome!
4. "School"
Abby has her own unique way of naming and pronouncing a lot of words. "Pincess" is a big one that comes up over and over since princesses are pretty much the most important thing right now. My other current favorite is when she uses the word "School."

In Abby's head, she doesn't realize that school is an actual building. She thinks "School" is Miss Deeann's name. Miss Deeann is Abby's para who gets her out of the van every morning, and helps her navigate the classroom. So when I say, "Let's go to school," she thinks I'm saying, "Let's go see Miss Deeann" since she's the first person she sees every morning when we arrive. It's hilarious! Miss Deeann thinks it's a riot also. As we were leaving today, Abby turned to her and yelled, "Bye, School!"

5. Hooha and Dingaling
Ooooohhhh, goodness gracious. I'm surprised that it took this long, but over the weekend, genders suddenly became a big topic of conversation. It makes sense since they watch me as I change four diapers in a row, but I really hadn't thought a lot about this stage until it started. Somehow, little girls' parts have become "hoohas" and little boys' parts are "dingalings." It's actually really cute/funny to hear Ellie try to figure out who has what...until we go to church or school and she is announcing to the room, "I have a hooha!!" I find myself giving disclaimers to Sunday School teachers and Preschool teachers now.

Even better is when Abby talks about it. She knows that she has a hooha, but she doesn't know what a hooha actually is. The other day, she stood in the middle of the living room and had a complete meltdown, bitter tears and all, because she couldn't find it.

Abby *sobbing*: "I can't find my hooha ANYWHERE!!!"
Mommy: "Abby...it's in your diaper. Between your legs, Baby Girl. You haven't lost it. It's just covered up." Abby: "I can't find it! Where is my hooha?? I lost it!"

She cried for a good 20 minutes over it. She finally found a shirt in the dirty clothes basket, announced THAT was her hooha, and was good to go.

Sometimes...I just don't know.

6. Career Day
This was actually a couple of weeks ago, but I forgot to include it on Little Things Thursday. I was invited to go to a local school and talk about being a professional blogger! It was totally fun, and the kids loved that I brought candy to bribe them to ask and answer questions. I talked to three classes, and I was impressed by how smart some of those kids are!

7. Sonic Master Blast: Turtle Pecan
Random, yes, but I'm eating this as I type, so I feel that it is worth mentioning. The Turtle Pecan Sonic Blast is delicious! But don't get a medium. It's way too rich. Get a mini or a small. Yum!

8. CSA: Week 3
Well...just going to be honest here. Our CSA has proven to be a bit of a disappointment this year. It's always a bit slow at the beginning of the season as things are still growing, but considering that we have a Vegetarian Box this year (no meat since we buy it direct from a farm), the boxes have been surprisingly sparse. We are really hoping they start to fill up a bit more as the summer goes on...

This week's box: 1 pint blueberries, 2 small bags snap peas, 1 head of broccoli, 2 summer squash, 2 zucchini, 1/2 gallon of milk, 4 small red potatoes.

  1. Kids like candy--no getting away from that. You were smart to bring some along when you spoke to them on Career day. I am surprised the teacher thought of a professional blogger as being a career.

    1. Hehe! I guess I have enough siblings and kids to figure out the candy thing. ;)

Being a Professional Blogger IS a career path. I have many friends who make full-time incomes doing it. It's a newer career option, but it is legit! It just takes a LOT of work (like most careers)! :)

  2. What farm do you order your meat from? I need to find a place to purchase grass fed/organic meat. Thanks!
