The Little Things Thursdays: #55

Welcome to The Little Things Thursday!!

If you are new to our link-up, we like to take a minute to look back on the little things that brightened our week. So often we get busy and forget all of the things that we enjoy as we go through our daily lives. This is an opportunity to stop, remember, and enjoy those things! Nothing is too small...in fact, the smaller the better! That's the whole point! If you have a blog, link-up below. If you don't blog, I'd love for you to participate by leaving a comment. Ready?

1. Mega Bloks Bag...Not Just for Blocks!
She stood up too fast! Right before I snapped this photo, Ellie was completely inside the Mega Bloks bag. It was hilarious! Of course, the second I picked up my camera, she stood up, and I missed the snapshot. At least you get to see what she does when she is inside the bag...yep, Ellie is licking it.

2. What Bedtime Currently Looks Like
Speaking of Ellie, we found the kids like this a couple of nights ago. They were supposed to be in bed, but instead, Caleb's crib was in the middle of the room, clothes were pulled out and dumped on the floor, and Ellie was sitting in the boys' clothes drawer. You can tell that she knows she's in trouble. Unfortunately, this is what we are currently dealing with during nap time and bedtime. :( But the photo is pretty funny anyway!

3. Doughnuts
I've wanted to try making homemade doughnuts for...at least 15 years. I was given some cast iron for Christmas, so decided to try my hand at it yesterday. Being a pretty experienced baker, I thought, "How hard can it be?" Um...apparently it's much harder than I thought. Oil is really difficult to keep at a steady temperature! I've pretty much decided that homemade doughnuts are far more trouble than they are worth. Unless someone has a good recipe for a cake doughnut with maple icing and peanuts. Those are my favorite, and I'd be willing to try homemade doughnuts again in that case. Anyone want to help me out?

4. Christmas PJs
I know that we are passed Christmas now, but I thought these PJs were really cute! The kids' great aunt bought each of them PJs, and they all have little butt flaps! The flaps say things like, "Bear Cheeks," "Tails End," and "Moose Caboose." So adorable!
My hubby snapped the photos in the collage and managed to get a few rumps in the pictures. I hope you can see the butt flaps because I think they are fun! :)

5. Thank You for Taking the Survey
So many of you have taken the annual A Beautiful Ruckus Reader Survey! I've been reading over your answers (several times!) and making notes about what you'd like to see in the future. It's SO helpful to me, and I really appreciate your time filling it out!

If you haven't filled it out yet, and want to let me know your anonymous opinion, I'd sure appreciate it! You can go here for the survey. Thank you!!

  1. #2 is why my twins' room got stripped of everything but the beds and bedding. Their dresser got moved to my closet. No toys, no other furniture, and the closet is locked. And they still manage to destroy it lol.

  2. Aw, poor Ellie. We've all been in that spot. Uhoh, made a mistake, now I'm in trouble. It's so great you can see the humor in it :) I just found a recipe for egg-free homemade donuts that I need to try. But now I'm worried!

  3. Those pj's are the cutest things ever! I wonder if they come in adult sizes??? This week i'm thankful for my calendar, taco shells (for when a planned dinner doesn't go quite as planned), and lotion. The air is SO dry I feel like i can't get enough.

  4. The bedtime picture made me laugh and cringe at the same time! Have you thought to maybe lower the mattress and put the sides back on until they mature a little more? Maybe they could still climb out? Our 4 year old is still in a regular crib and had never gotten out but our little one started climbing out at 14 mos and now the crib is backwards and up against a wall and I bought a thin mattress from ikea to buy me more time...I'm dreading the day they get moved to toddler beds and know that day is coming soon but for now I better enjoy my peace at night before I'm in the same boat as you! :)
