The Little Things Thursdays: #56

Welcome to The Little Things Thursday!!

If you are new to our link-up, we like to take a minute to look back on the little things that brightened our week. So often we get busy and forget all of the things that we enjoy as we go through our daily lives. This is an opportunity to stop, remember, and enjoy those things! Nothing is too small...in fact, the smaller the better! That's the whole point! If you have a blog, link-up below. If you don't blog, I'd love for you to participate by leaving a comment. Ready?

1. Milestone: No More Highchairs!
Abby, Ellie, Elijah, and Caleb
I resist these milestones, because every time we hit one, the kids get more freedom, and I lose more control. Eh...I suppose it's part of raising kids though, right? And truly, I am happy that we are progressing!

Last week, the kids' occupational therapist asked me when we were thinking about moving the kids to booster seats. I didn't have a good answer for that because I was in denial that they were big enough. BUT, we bit the bullet, moved them to the table, and...they've done awesome! They love getting to sit at the big table with us, and dinner time has suddenly become much more hilarious! Abby quietly eats dinner, Ellie talks non-stop and constantly makes faces, Elijah seems to think it's just fine to prop his feet on the table, and Caleb counts to 10 repeatedly. Haha! Many more enjoyable dinners are ahead of us, I'm sure!

2. Pa's Birthday Dinner
Elijah, Sean, Cousin Marissa, Abby, Pa, Ellie, Ma, Caleb, Cousin Toby, Aunt Ruby
Pa (Sean's dad) had a birthday this week! We were able to head over and enjoy a birthday dinner with him. I asked if we could snap a quick photo after dinner to commemorate the occasion. :)

3. Friends!
I take a lot of photos, but I normally forget to include myself. This week, I managed to remember that and have my camera handy when one of my dearest friends was around. Aw, I love Sarah! I originally met her when she showed up at my house to help me feed our infants during those first long days. She consistently came every single week for six hours at a time even though she didn't know me before hand. And she kept right on coming until she had her own baby. Now she has two kids, and we see each other far too seldom, but thankfully, we now go to church together. :)

4. Visit with our Great-Grandparents
Gpa, Caleb, Sean, Elijah, Abby, TwoMa, and Ellie
We spontaneously headed over to visit with kids' Great-Grandparents on Martin Luther King Jr. Day. Gpa and TwoMa were all set up with snacks and everything by the time we walked in the door. I loved getting to take a photo of three generations of family. Something to definitely cherish in the future!

  2. No more high chairs was one of my favourite things to get rid of! perhaps that is partly because it always took up so much space in the kitchen; but having the kids at the table definitely makes for entertaining meal times!
Nice to get some family time!

  3. The biggest "little" blessing that I had this week was help from random friends with our new home. As a new home buyer I had no idea what I was doing with some things and I have some great friends who were able to break away from their families or their lunch to come and help me. SO thankful for them. :)

The kids look great at the table. Mealtime just took on a whole new meaning. :)
