The Little Things Thursdays: #105

This post may contain affiliate links. Thank you for supporting our family and blog!

Welcome to The Little Things Thursday!!

If you are new, we like to take a minute to look back on the little things that brightened our week. So often we get busy and forget all of the things that we enjoy as we go through our daily lives. This is an opportunity to stop, remember, and enjoy those things! Nothing is too small...in fact, the smaller the better! That's the whole point! If you have a blog, leave a link in a comment below! If you don't blog, I'd love for you to participate by leaving a moment in a comment anyway. Ready?

Who am I kidding? I just don't think I can keep up with this anymore as a weekly installment. Unless....does anyone want to come cook dinner for me every night? Lol! This post series might have a new name next time....like Little Things from My Entire Month.

1. Squirrel Watching
Ellie, Elijah, Abby, and Caleb

It's rare that I can get a decent picture of the four of them without someone trying to run away. I think the only reason why this one worked is because they couldn't see me whip out my phone to take the photo. Sean had pointed out a squirrel in the tree, and everyone had to go take a look.

This photo makes me realize how big my kids are getting. Goodness! And also, no one is blurry from moving too fast. I'll take it!

2. Fashion Rules were meant to be Broken
Abby

Abby is the queen of dressing up at our house! For all intents and purposes, the dress up trunk is her domain. This particular day, she donned a princess dress, a cowboy hat, and a single flip flop that was 3 sizes too small. Then a guy from the power company stopped by to look at the lines in the backyard, and Abby stood at the front door and had an extensive conversation about her day in preschool with him. He was SO nice and chatted right back with her. Oh my word. Watching the two of them discussing her life while she was dressed like that was hilarious!

3. The Rest of the Kiddos
Of course, I have to post updated photos of the rest of my cuties! :)  (they didn't feel the need to dress up like Abby did. haha!)
Ellie

Elijah

Caleb

4. Dandelions and Wishberries
Dandelions and Wishberries are ALL the rage at our house right now! Everyday, the kids come home from school and run through the neighbor's side yard looking for flowers. Dandelions are the yellow ones, and they become Wishberries when they turn into fluff balls. Not sure how they came up with that name for them, but I think it's adorable!
Elijah, Abby, Ellie, and Caleb

And lucky me, I get handfuls of flowers every day! :)

5. Hugs for Everyone!
We are currently in the midst of a hugging spree! Lots of hugs are flying around our house, and it makes my heart so happy to see my kids loving on each other....for at least those two minutes.
Caleb and Elijah.......Ellie and Abby

And then, of course, one kid has something that another kid wants and there is much weeping and gnashing of teeth, but the hugs are marvelous while they last!

The kids really do love each other, and are each others' best friends. It doesn't get any better than that!

6. Pizza Castle
I wanted to share these cute photos of Elijah at school a few weeks ago. His class set up their own pizza parlor and each of them had a "job." They had a whole unit on restaurants and what goes into making one work. They opened it up to parents to come in and eat pizza at their restaurant so that all of the kids could role play. It was a really fun experience for them and fun for us to watch!

Elijah was a table busser....and let's just say that he was not pleased with his position. Lol! From what I could tell, he has higher career aspirations than that. Eventually, he was so fed up, he grabbed himself a plate, popped himself in a chair with all of the "customers," and ate lunch. Oh my stars! I went back and forth between being horribly embarrassed and being like, "yeah, he's four." His teacher said to just leave him be, so that's what I did. He is definitely a strong-willed child, and lately seems to be having more "come to Jesus" meetings with us than usual. Send back up!

7. Learning to Write Our Names
My mother-in-law's birthday was a couple of weeks ago, and we had the kids sign her birthday card. I love that you can actually make out their names now!

8. Best Black Eye Ever!
Take a look at that shiner! Holy moley! One day a couple of weeks ago, Abby climbed into the car after school with that going on. Apparently, she never cried, never showed any sign of distress, nothing while at school. And Abby is DEFINITELY my dramatic kid! One minute she didn't have anything, and then the next minute, she had a black eye. The teachers aren't sure where it came from either. It just appeared. We are all assuming that she fell into something while at school. Abby is also DEFINITELY my clumsy kid, so it probably didn't even phase her. But it darkened over the next 24 hours....just in time for school pictures. Haha! Preschool can be ROUGH!

9. Family Easter Picture
Back row: Daddy, Ellie, Mommy, Caleb
Front row: Abby, Elijah

Remember that bit about how all of our photos are blurry because the kids move too much? Yeah. Well, this is as good as it gets for our most recent family photo. :)

10. School Days
And finally, I have to share this story as sent to me by Elijah's teacher. She even took photos and sent those to me as well. Lol!

"Once upon a time, a sweet little Elijah was just completely exhausted at recess time before nap. Ellie was riding the bike he wanted, and so he decided to crawl along holding the back of the bike, crying and yelling, 'stoooop!' while Ellie continuously and very patiently pedaled slowly along saying very sweetly, 'Elijah, no thank you. No thank you, Elijah.' We had to take pictures before helping to fix the issue and scoop sweet boy off the floor to go to nap time. :)"

 Elijah

Oh my word. This happened a few weeks ago. Last week, I got a call from the school nurse that Elijah got in FRONT of the bike that Ellie was riding, and she managed to mow him down. He had a fat lip for a couple of days. The drama of being four-years-old!

  1. As much as I love coming to your website to get my "Beautiful Ruckus" fix every Thursday, I totally understand that you don't have time for a weekly update. I'm just thrilled to see any posts because I'm impressed that with four children, you even have time to THINK about posts! Thanks for sharing what you can, when you can! (P.S. The first photo of everyone watching the squirrel is frame-worthy!)
